In this series, Robert Charles Hill presents a translation of the fifty-eight surviving commentaries of John Chrysostom on the book of Psalms. The texts reflect Chrysostom's brilliance as an exegete and pastor and his struggles to unravel the metaphorical language and imagery of the Psalms. This volume presents Psalms 4-13 and 44-50 as well as a lengthy introduction discussing basic issues of the commentary, its origins, its relationship to Chrysostom's other exegetical work, his attitude to Scripture and the theology and spirituality of the commentary. Volume Two of the translation includes Psalms 109-150.
