My Life in Christ (TC) [TC-MYLIJO]
Saint John of Kronstadt

Fr John of Kronstadt (1829-1908) is known as a great wonderworker and a man of prayer. He possessed an evangelical fervor and almost unbounded pastoral energy authenticated by his simple and clear faith in God. Revered even during his lifetime, Fr John's fame has not diminished in the last century. He was recognized as having unshakeable faith in prayer and the power of his prayer was tremendous. Even now, he stands as the example of insistent, forceful, even violent prayer that is rooted not in arrogance or pride, but in humility and a deep, consuming faith. My Life In Christ is a modern classic of Orthodox spirituality and, specifically, the method of prayer. Taken from his journal, this collection of often short passages exhort readers in nurturing a life of prayer leading to conviction of faith and belief in the power of God.

I do not precede my book by any introduction: let it speak for itself. Everything contained in it is but a gracious enlightenment which was bestowed upon my soul by the all-enlightening Holy Ghost during moments of deep self-concentration and of self-examination, especially during prayer. When I had time, I noted down the edifying thoughts and feelings that came to me, and from these notes, continued for many years, this book has now been compiled; the contents are very varied, as will be seen by the readers. Let them judge of them for themselves. "He that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man." (1 Corinthians ii. 15.)

THE ARCHPRIEST, JOHN SERGIEFF.
