THE SILVER SERIES, VOLUME 6

"A local Church... is Orthodox first of all when it includes theologians, teachers, and bishops who proclaim and teach the Word of God. That teaching must be in conformity with the doctrine of the great theologians of the universal Church as formulated by the Ecumenical Councils."

"... a local Church must celebrate a eucharistic Liturgy, in which the faith of the universal Church is expressed by its prayer. This Liturgy needs to conform to the basic structure of the earliest Christian Liturgies: Egyptian, Syrian, and Roman, as they were celebrated in the third century."

Fr. Cyril Argenti was a monk and a priest. Born in 1918, of Greek parents, he served the Orthodox community in Marseille, France, for over 40 years. He founded the parish of St. Irenaeus, took part in ecumenical dialogue and devoted much of his time to serving the poor. He passed from this life on the Feast of Presentation of the Mother of God in the Temple, 21 November, 1994.
